About Chris van den Bosch
Golf teaching professional Chris achieved an ambition he held as a single-figure junior golfer at Old Fold Manor Golf Club by joining the PGA professional ranks in 2006. In 2009, he passed his PGA Foundation Degree Programme qualifications with merit while training at Fulwell Golf Club, Middlesex. After consolidating his position as a PGA teaching professional at Fulwell GC, Chris made the short journey to Coombe Wood Golf Club and its head professional, Phil Wright, in 2016.
As a PGA Class A Professional, Chris is committed to delivering the best service possible to all golfers, from juniors and beginners to experienced players and seniors. His coaching style avoids overly technical, jargon-heavy philosophies that can constrain pupils and inhibit natural learning. Simplicity, enjoyment and an appreciation of how each individual moves differently help pupils quickly grasp the changes being taught. This leads to greater understanding and, in most cases, rapid improvement.
Coaching philosophy
Learning the game of golf can be a daunting prospect and is often viewed as a game of overly technical movement and complicated positions. Chris's coaching style embraces simplicity, using jargon-free language and practical visual aids to help retain new information. His approach revolves around:
Teaching the individual
Working with each pupil's natural constraints
Keeping instruction simple and clear
Ensuring pupils understand the reasons behind technique changes
Creating an enjoyment factor while instilling confidence
Using technology to identify weaknesses, then practice, practice, practice
